Welcome to ChoreCrown. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ChoreCrown website and app at chorecrown.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any children you add to the Service. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that you have the legal authority to make decisions about your children's data.

2. Service Description

ChoreCrown is a family chore management app that allows parents to assign chores to their children, track chore completion, award points and levels, and manage rewards. The Service is designed for use within a household and is managed by a parent or guardian.

The Service is offered in two tiers:

• Free Tier: Limited to 2 children, 10 chores, and 5 rewards. No charge.
• Pro Tier: Unlimited children, chores, and rewards, plus analytics and additional features. Available for $4.99/month with a 14-day free trial, or via promo code.

3. Your Account

• Account creation: You must provide a valid email address, create a password, and set a parent PIN.
• Account security: You are responsible for keeping your password and PIN confidential. Do not share them with your children or anyone else.
• Account accuracy: You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.
• One account per household: Each household should have one parent account. Multiple parent accounts per household are not supported.
• Device registration: You may register multiple devices (kids' tablets, phones) to your household. A parent must authenticate each device once.

4. Parental Consent and Children's Data

By adding a child to the Service, you consent to the collection and processing of that child's data (name, birthday, chore history, points, rewards) as described in our Privacy Policy. You confirm that:

• You are the parent or legal guardian of the children you add.
• You have the right to consent to data collection on their behalf.
• You understand you can delete any child's data at any time.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws. You agree that you will not:

• Use the Service to collect data about children who are not your own.
• Abuse, harass, or use the Service in any manner that could harm, disrupt, or impair its functionality.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service.
• Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose.
• Interfere with or disrupt the servers or networks used to provide the Service.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or computer systems.
• Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access the Service beyond normal use.
• Share or distribute promo codes that were provided to you personally.

6. Subscriptions and Billing

Free Trial

New accounts receive a 14-day free trial of Pro tier. No payment information is required during the trial. When the trial ends, your account will automatically downgrade to the Free tier unless you add a payment method.

Pro Subscription

• Pro tier costs $4.99 per month, billed in advance through Stripe.
• Your subscription renews automatically each month until cancelled.
• You can cancel at any time through the Account Settings page (Stripe Customer Portal).
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro access until then.
• No refunds are issued for partial billing periods.

Promo Codes

If you have a promo code, you may redeem it in Account Settings to unlock Pro tier at no charge. Promo codes are non-transferable and may be revoked if distributed outside their intended audience.

7. Data and Content

• You own all data you enter into the Service (child names, chores, rewards, etc.).
• You can export your data at any time from Account Settings.
• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Account Settings.
• We are not responsible for data loss caused by your failure to maintain your account or export data before deletion.

8. Service Availability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any feature) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ChoreCrown disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Service is provided without warranty of any kind.

10. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall ChoreCrown, its owners, or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of points or rewards, or interruption of use, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Account Settings. This permanently removes all your data. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this document. We will notify users of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the state in which the Service is operated, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the appropriate jurisdiction.
